Got me some wheels!
« on: 30 June 2009, 19:12:03 »

Been shopping today!

My excuse is that the 16 inch tyres are needing replacing and they are not exactly cheap for to get a half decent brand so why not spend the same and get brand new tyres on some Snowflakes!?

They currently have 225/40/18 on which I know are a little on the under-size but am thinking of switching a pair of the 225's for some 255's or 265's for the rear and re-use the 225's on the front when the current set are worn.

Problem now is that it will look like it needs lowering  ::)

Hope so  ;D

I have only just put two and two together and realised that the 18's are 6 spoke and the 19's are 5 spoke!

Would much have rather preferred 5 spokes but I don't think 19's look so 'OEM', even if they are VX wheels, just an era thing.

Somebody will now point me to Ablertorss's Mig  ;)

I am running 245 45 18s which come in close to the OEM 235 45 17s and they fit perfectly...

BTW I think anything above 245 and it wont fit, it becomes too wide for the rim...

My rims came form Opel Astra VXR, and are 18x7.5 with 37mm offset...

Agrees - they are what VX market as the VXR styling pack for anything other than the VXR! Confusing.

Strange that I thought they were 8.0 wide, not 7.5?

If you look at some other threads the 265 is a fit, it was offered by VX on the Irmscher 8.0x18 Omega rims as option. Only the rear though!

Well I knew it was one of the performance Astras' but wasn't sure which one, SRI, was the proper name, now I remember.

The ones I have are 7.5, and they came in with very narrow 225 40 18s.

I had no idea you can fit a 265 on these wheels, seems like a bit of a stretch but I suppose its possible.

what exact tire dimension is hat 265 ?? 18, 30 or 35

19s would be awesome but not as many tire choices, and you get a much harsher ride with those...

http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/category_results.mhtml?category=eibachprospacers;car=vauxhallomega;manufacturer=eibachwheels;sub_category=1

Ordered 16mil for front and 25mil for rear. I ordered them, and they phoned me within 15 staying the rears were out of stock and would be back in within a few days, and due to this they refunded me the delivery for the rears  :y
Not cheap but the 19"s look awesome but just sit too far inside the rim and rub on th front.

Mmm, with a 7.5 rim I would not have thought a 265 would work, poss a 245/35 or 245/40 might.
