My first Caravan
« on: 19 January 2009, 23:04:50 »

This is a Opel Omega B Caravan CD 2.5 V6 I found on a field at the end of last summer.
She had been on grass for over a year at the time I purchased her.
I am only working on her in my sparetime, which she has to share with my Cavalier III, the wife's Astra and 25 young football-ladies (14-15 years) I am coaching.

First I changed the thermostat, belts and watherpump. (I did it myself, and yes, the motor still running ;) )

First look

Day of purchase. My Cavalier and a friend's MV6 in the background.

A bit filthy, but I'm working on it.

The new used leather.

Halfway mounting new headlights.

Just checking that the light is working.

Finish. Also new dark side indicators fitted.

Well, that was the begining.
As you can see I have already purchased a few extras.
Beside the leather itīs Mantzel spoilerlip, logofree grill, rear door vents and a few other things.

Hope you like it  :)

It is not stone chips all of it  :(
The previus owner bumped into something with the right front corner,  breaking the glass on the headlight and bend the bumper so the paint cracked.  >:(

No, the leather seats don't have Memory buttons.
There are two versions of electrical seats, one with memory and one without. And these are without.

These are from a left hand drive Omega.

For a car that was found in a field, that is one very nice vehicle! :y :y

I find it interesting you call these cars "caravans", as of course in Britain we call them "estates", and once they were named "shooting brakes" (used by the gentry to take hunting parties out on shooting expeditions across their estates), yet in the USA they are "station wagons". :D :D ;)

It's called a Caravan since it's an Opel.
Opel has used the name Caravan at least since start of production after WWII.

Thanks! :y  Is that name purely for the estate version of the Omega or, what I think you have said, any Opel generally? :-?
