I'l  take a wild guess at a Mark 1 Lotus Cortina (like Jim Clark used to drive).

Was it a real one with alloy skins etc or a replica?
Used to rally a replica in '78/'79, handling was awful, too much weight at front, but great fun. If you wanted to change the points or condenser, you had to remove the front carb, we fitted Luminition to get round that and cut a hole next to the rad so you could get a hand in to the dizzy.
Bet it sounds nice on open intakes but I would want a decent air box and filter to save on rebuild costs. Those Webbers tended to spit out fuel/air when driving hard and on/off throttle which can be a fire risk without an air box.
On the right is a Lucas Powerstop which is a remote acting servo.....hydraulic only, no mechanical connection to the master cylinder or pedal. they are a bit rare now but a useful way of getting servo assistance into kitcars and cars like Imps and Minis where there isnt much space.

Got my Dad here with me looking at this Lotus Cortina Pictures.

He is wondering if any one on the forum remembers the Mk1 Lotus Cortina, as he was in the bodywork trade at the time.. (Chatfields for you guys who live in Stoke)

Dad saying there used to be a big air filter on the top of the engine, also had stiffening tension bars in the boot to stop the rear panels bowing in at speed...

Loo-knee and Loo-knee's Daddy ;)

I am a bit of a Ford man and if i remember the MK1 did have a big pankake filter and the strenghning bars in the rear were of pressed steel with holes in them. Think im right but i have been wrong before  ;)
