I have returned to Omega ownership
« on: 10 August 2007, 12:10:40 »

Hello,

I have returned to Omega ownership. The Saab and I were just not getting on, and even though the car was my everyday car, I need something to excite and interest me, in the same way my Jag does, and 2.5CDX did.

When I got the chance to take on a 2.0CD, free of charge, in need of a rear diff and manifold, I jumped at the chance, so I am the proud owner of a P reg 2.0 CD manual saloon, in midnight blue metallic.

It's had a few upgrades, Black Elite leather, and Projectors.

Performance, not as depressing as I first thought it would be. Mileage, just shy of 100,000. Has had recent cambelt, tensioners and water pump (as I replaced them for the previous owner), air con works, and works well too!!.

On the list of things to do.

Replace rear diff
Replace manifold
Sort random engine light warning (possibly lambda)
Sort downpipe blow and fitment
Resolve wiring issue on drivers electric seat

I drove it last night, a 20 mile journey, and was pleasantly reminded of the Omegas smooth ride, confident handling and general feeling of well being.

My reasons for getting rid of the 2.5 were purely sensible, but, as I have found, if you're not happy with a car, it's best to return to somewhere where you were happy and an Omega is where it's at!.

:)A 2.0 in good nick has a fair turn of speed considering the weight it has to pull.

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome back. Here are some pictures of the new project, it cost me pretty much next to nothing!!!.

Went to pick up my New Omega on Thursday evening, cycled there from work, around a 12 mile trip, which took 55 minutes, rather nice on a warm evening :).

The car was covered in dust, some bird droppings and general grime, as it had been stood under a tree. A quick session with me, and she now looks like this.

Personalised plate will be going very soon, to be replaced with a standard P plate, that has been on retention.

Not the kind of oomph I am used to, but it hauls the barge along nicely enough :), and returns excellent fuel economy on the motorway.

These are really growing on me, they transform the look of the car, shaving a good couple of years off the age.

Very clean and straight all over, lovely dark Midnight Blue paintwork, looks purple on some lights.

Elite interior is lovely.

So, she comes with around 10/11 months MOT, tax till the end of the year, new rear springs, a new front pipe and cat, recent waterpump, tensioner, rollers, belts (which I changed).

Price, not a lot at all. It does need work however. The list so far.

Rear Diff
Manifold
Possible Crank Angle Sensor
Possible Dis Pack (though it may not need this)

Today I washed and polished it, had a general nose around and changed the fuel filter, as one had been supplied with the car.

Really like it thus far and look forward to having it on the road properly.

LOL, it is :). If I were going to be picky, I'd say it's missing around 4 cylinders :). (if it had these it'd be my dream Holden Commodore)
