oxygen censor

hi there i am new to the forum i have a 1994 estate 2.0i the ecu light keeps coming on done the paper clip test comes up 038 oxygen censor .                
do any of you mechanically minded people out there know where the oxygen censor is located.
 i belive it to be located on the exhaust system somewhere???? but it seems to be weel hidden please can you help me with this problem because the car sounds terible and fuel consumption is poor
