Welcome to the site.
2.2 generally a decent reliable motor, if not exactly 'exciting' from a performance point of view. Ensure it is well serviced (and I do not mean by some useless dealer or the specified intervals - that will kill the car), and it should do your well.
My recommendations, service yourself, and:
Oil change every 4 - 5k
Coolant change, initially annually, then every 2 years with Vauxhall 'Red'
Brake fluid change, annually
Breather and throttle body clean, annually
Autobox ATF change (if applic), every 50k
Handbrake service, annually.
Most other stuff as per schedule.
Following above should help keep it tip-top and reliable. 2.2 does have a habit of head gasket, but you should minimise this following above advice. Its not as bad a Rover K series! Common problem is cam sensor on these - you'll know when its failed

If you are able to do some servicing yourself, blag yourself a 'Trade Club' card (hhtp://www.tradeclub.co.uk) for cheap service items from your dealer.
