Spearmint is in da house!
« on: 10 May 2008, 10:55:59 »

Hey guys,

I'm Richie and I've just purchased a 1999 Omega 2.5TD CDX Auto. This is my second venture into the world of oil burners
(My first lasted about 2 weeks on a Vectra Diesel Estate before the Diesel pump shat itself!) which wouldn't have happened at all if it wasn't due to myself becoming a new father. :)

I've owned a few Vauxhall's in the past starting aeon's ago with an Astra Merit as my first car, Calibra Ecotec as my second and then I moved on up to the performance league with a Calibra Turbo.

You may or may not recognise my username as I am a member of a few motoring forums such as the Skyline Owners Club, GTROC, Pistonheads etc. Incidentally my power kicks are still accomplished with a 1996 R33 GTST Spec 2 Nissan Skyline which is currently undergoing its second engine rebuild where it was kicking out approximately 496bhp at the hubs with 425 lb/ft of torque, well that was until the stock con-rod bolts decided to let go. New engine is built and awaiting one or two more bits for fabrication which will ensure it not only kicking out more power than before but also more reliable with it. Unfortunately, this car is now up for sale which is gutting but hey ho! Couple of years driving an oil burner then I'll get back into burning huge amounts of petrol for my kicks once more! :D

Now that's a little about myself and where I am with my cars so here are my questions concerning the Omega.

It's a 1999 Omega 2.5TD CDX AUTO and I wish to run it on Biodiesel so my daily commute to work ends up costing me peanuts. Are there any issues I need to be aware of with the running of Biodiesel with this model?

Next question. I have been made aware of the stock gearboxes weakness with regards to chipping the ECU to return the power output to that of the BMW525. So I have purchased an AR35 gearbox, is there a how too around here to do the swap quickly and safely?

Any help would be most appreciated.  :y
