Hello
« on: 11 May 2009, 17:39:10 »

Hi

I have just inherited, my dads Omega MV6 99, only done 58000 miles in velvet green, leather etc.

I'd like to ask a few questions - I've always maintained the car for my dad, and we put new rocker cover gaskets on the car a couple of years ago, I read on here the spark plugs filling with oil are caused by either warped plastic rocker covers or blocked breather.  Can anyone help or shed any light on how to check which it will be that is the cause?

I'm also after a Elite irmscher grille, with velvet green surround?  Does anyone have one for sale?

If anyone can give me a few pointers on maintenance and improving the car, advice would be much appreciated.

I already have a Vectra GSi with 3.0 engine conversion, so know of modifications on them.  This omega is standard apart from a drilled airbox with K&N and blanked EGR.  Apart from that its standard.

Cheers

Dean

Hello and welcome :y

Check the breathers to see if they're full of sh1te. They are the pipes at the back of the black plastic with ecotec written on it :y

How do I get to the breather canister, I know its at the back of the engine under the scuttle panel, we've had the pipes removed in the past, my dad said they looked OK, but he never had the breather apart to see if it was clogged.

Cheers

Hello and welcome -- with regard to the oil weeping --- blocked pipes and warped covers are chichen and egg sorta thing --- both contribute to the oil in the wells -- but the blocked breathers cause the pressure build up that forces it out .... so, 1st port of call is to get all the gunk out of those pipes .... the covers might not actually be warped.  :y
