NEED HELP AND ADVICE ON BUYING A OMEGA
« on: 12 July 2009, 14:01:04 »

Hi there, i have spotted a Vauxhall Omega 2.6 v6 auto elite for sale with 14,000 mile on the clock. It is 2001 and was owned by the owner of ballyrobert in nothern ireland. They had it for sale for £5595 but got them talked down to £4700 cash. I feel it is to expensive for the year of car but i have to admit it is a lot of car really nice drive and feel. I am used to driving a 2001 mitsubishi galant estate 2.4 GDI but have made my mind up to go back to vauxhall, with my brother giving me hell about this because he thinks i should buy a audi a4 or something. just want to ask yous what you think of the omega and how do you feel it sits on the road. the galant look aggressive which was nice and i think the vectra vxr has the same aggressive feel but to expensive. anyway all your input and advice is welcome.
 :)

A lot of money, but does sound a good example.

Im personally wary of a car with that low mileage for the age.

Good afternoon & welcome along.
£4,700 is way way too much for a 51 reg :o :o :o no matter what condition or mileage. I paid no were near for my diesel 18 months ago & diesel's hold their value better. Search a little longer & soon enough something else will arrive (maybe not with that mileage, but just as good) Have fun searching :y :y

Hi Hutch, welcome along :y :y

A tad too much is being asked for, you'll get a better result from Ballyrobert if you're firm.  The local market won't support a car at that price point.

There's a bigger choice to be had over here on the mainland, remind them of that :y

Ola

Welcome to the forum.

Same car would cost you double that in Spain. There might be more cars on the mainland but how much time and money would it cost to find one. Can you go back and offer them £4200 ?

Hello and welcome -- tad overpriced -- but I gather prices are higher over there -- no idea how much though!

Basically, if you are happy with the price and everything checks out as genuine, go for it.  However, as mentioned before -- i would be wary of a car that age having such a low mileage.

Welcome to OOF Hutch, keep your money in your pocket, you are being robbed even for NI prices, plus bear in mind the cost of the road tax for a 2.6 over there too.
