Newcomer WAL
« on: 27 August 2009, 20:25:10 »

Hello, I've just joined the forum.  I have owned my [our - my wife drives it mainly and thinks it's hers] Omega for only a couple of months.  Its a 1964 and only had 59K on it then.  Since then its covered another 6500mls.  I've had a new cambelt, rockerbox cover gasket and a new alternator plus a new oil pressure switch [it kept coming on] but the problem was gunge in the sump.  Its all cleared out now and she's running like a dream - sooooooo smooth.  I am just gettin' use to the fuel consumption [probably where they get the mega bit from] but its a classic ride an worth it.  We were so impressed that we decided to sell it and get a newer one; which is how I come to look for and find the forum.  The new[er] one is a 2001 on an X plate 2.2 cd, very nice, and the dealer is doin' some jobs that I asked to be done before I agreed to buy it.  One was that the cambelt be done.  First the dealer said he thought it was a cam chain on this model but later to clinch the deal agreed to change the cambelt [???].  Since then I've been tryin' to find out whether it is belt or cam an' I'd be grateful if someone can advise [on this or anything else about the 2.2 cd].  I've never joined / used a forum before an' its all a bit [lot] strange so forgive me if this is too long or in the wrong place [good to know you don't bite - eh]. I'm not normally this chatty so don't worry.  Every good wish - WAL :o
