Gutted newbie omega owner - ripped off
« on: 11 October 2009, 12:47:43 »

hey all - my 1st experience of ownin an omega isnt a great one

i bought a stipped out one so new there was no back seats or door cards but wasnt expectin this !!

the body work was a lot worse than described in the AD but after travelin over 200 miles to pick it up i wasnt going to go home empty handed - the guy wouldnt even budge on price when i got there and once i set off, the hell began !

got two doors from his drive when the battery light came on (or was on when i started but i hadnt noticed it cos i was lookin where i was goin) so i stopped to get out n ask him if he knew why it was on - THE DOOR WOULDNT OPEN - i was stuck lol yankin on the BROKEN door handle to get out - finally got it to open as he approached me - he said he didnt have a clue y the light was on n he hadnt noticed it on before and the handle worked "now n then, just got to get it right"

set off again and noticed the speedo, rev counter, temp gauge and FUEL gauge didnt work !! had to go thru speed cameras guessin my speed and average 50mph road works up M1 !! and pray i wasnt guna run out of petrol or overheat!!

also the seats were welded in so i could hardly reach the floor of the clutch pedal whch made the journey up the M1 interestin in stop/start rush hour traffic from 2:30pm till 7:45pm !!

i was boiling in the car and found out there was no switches to put the electric windows down or open sun roof !

the handbrake cable as snapped or none existent

pulled into a services for some air and then realised the remote central lockin didnt work and NOR DID THE KEY IN THE DOOR so i have no way of LOCKIN IT !! - got him on phone n he said he had never locked it the whole time he had it  >:(

oh n another point to the door not lockin - i cant lock the petrol cap which is nice to know  ::) or even the boot  :(

and the bonnet catch wont pop the bonnet unless its bein pulled at same time as someone tryin to lift it up - try doin that on ya own is impossible !!

plus the rust on arches, sills and body that he forgot to mention - he said it had rust on one door and that was it !

ALSO this is a beauty this one - chuckin it down with rain and i put wipers on, on M1.....guess what,,,,it only had ONE wiper arm !!

i wonder if he's a member on here or u reckonise it when i put pics up

ooo and it has a chip in windscreen and bottom left corner of windscreen has white mould grownin - and it has no washer jets at front or a back wiper -

HOWEVER - on a plus note, it got me home - however on a bad note....with no handbrake, i live on a hill grrrr so had to park it against my honda accord coupe which im not happy about but have no other choice !!

LOOKING FOR ANY HELP YOU GUYS CAN GIVE ME ON SORTING THE SPEEDO CLOCKS AND BE ABLE TO LOCK IT AND STOP IT ROLLING - thanks :D

Hi, welcome to the forum.   :y

if it was that car on the link, you should have walked away, you mentioned rust on the wheel arches, he didnt, not as described, walk away.

Either way, there is plenty of help on here.   :y :y :y

Hi mate, welcome to the forum. I'm curious about your story, surely you would have had a test drive first? It sounds like you went to see it blindfolded!!

You need help from these people, they'll sort you out  :y
