Hello!
« on: 20 February 2010, 21:54:31 »

Hi everyone!

I hope this works - I've never used a forum of any kind before, so I'm not too sure what I'm doing!

I have a late '96 3.0 Elite, which I've had since about 45k miles, and at 110k it's just blown the heater matrix, so I google for help and came up with OOF! Brilliant, didn't know there were so many Omega fans. (do I read correctly - do you all call them 'migs?)

I've stripped enough of the interior to be able to see what I need to do, so I was looking for guidelines on removing the matrix. I was thinking of carefully cutting parts of the facia away rather than taking the whole lot out, and I see others have done this too. Great photo's from someone on what to cut, although I've already dismantled more than they did to start.

Was half-heartedly looking for a new car anyway, trouble is after an Elite, only another one will do! Guess I'd better patch this one up and get out and about looking for another one.

Anyway, if someone would be kind enough to reply, then at least I know I've made a succesful 'post'.

Kind regards,

GreenOmegaMan....or as the rest of the world knows me...Julian

Hi Both,

Thanks for the replies....it looks like blown matrix's are common then! Shame - never missed a beat from one end of the country to the other until now. Well, if I'm prepared to forget about the siezed belt tensioner and the blown top hose, anyway! But that 'ain't bad in 60k plus miles
