knocking noise

i have a 2.5 v6 petrol omega , with a knocking/ tapping noise when started stopps after a while but annoying , sounds like a autobox area , is it possible to change / check the ATF ?

Little difficult to say what it is without hearing the noise etc but something easy to try, check the heat shields on the CAT down pipes are not rattling, if so put a couple of jubilee clips around each ;)
