Hey folks,
Found this site through Google when looking for Omega information. Bit of background; my names John and i'm 21. I have an extensive car background (despite only having a license for 4 years) and i'm a big Vauxhall fan; my history with Vauxhalls includes MK3 Cavaliers, a MK3 Astra, some MK4 Astra's, numerous Vectra B's, a Vectra C (until earlier this year) and also a Calibra V6 which I owned for a while.
Since selling the Vectra in February, I toyed with another Astra G SXi, getting rid of that to run a Volvo S40 for a few months. Unfortunately, old Volvo's, albeit reliable, don't really do it for me and it was only a 1.6, so a bit sluggish.
I've been looking for something a little more lively to replace it with and was strongly considering a Vectra B GSi. However, an impulse buy on eBay put the cap on that.
I've always liked Omega's and i've always quite fancied one. So I couldn't resist this 2000 (X) Omega 2.5 V6 CDX Auto - 120k miles, bags of history, 12 months ticket, few months tax, recently had a reconditioned gearbox fitted, full service (inc cambelt) for the right side of 1k; add in excellent condition, a pretty decent spec and the fact that it looks "smart as" (to quote my old man) meant it wasn't long before I ended up winning the auction and left wondering how much it was going to cost me to pick it up

Collected it on Saturday and I have to say, with the exception of the Calibra (the old C25XE 2.5 V6 engine, but with a Manual box) this is probably my favourite Vauxhall to date (in fact I rate it more than the 56 reg Vectra C 1.8 I had).
The fuel consumption is taking some getting used to however (its well over a year since I got rid of the Calibra) and i've only had limited experience with Automatics in the past, but I absolutely love it. Insurance is reasonable as well, considering the car and my age!
Anyway enough of the waffling, some pics of the new car

The eagle eyed of you will notice the petrol light is on in this pic mind!!

Plans for the car haven't been finalized yet. My private plate is currently in the process of being transferred from the Volvo onto the Omega, so thats the first job. After that i'm unsure; to be honest I like the way it looks already so it will more than likely be a little bit of tweaking under the bonnet and leaving the exterior as it is!
I've already had a quick look around the forum and it appears to be a good resource, so hopefully I will stick around and be able to contribute as and when i'm able to!
Regards,
John
