Hello
« on: 16 November 2010, 16:03:43 »

Hello folks.
Just popping in to say hello. Looking at a big, comfy motorway cruiser come early 2011, and Omega is a top candidate, bang for buck seems to be the name of the game with them!

I think 2.2 suits, because insurance is still a concern. Cruise control a bonus but not a necessity, so far I've looked at CD and CDX trim, post facelift. Budget will probably be £1200ish, can perhaps push a little higher if needs must.

Any tips appreciated, and anyone with suitable, well looked after examples can contact me if they wish, though it's unlikely I'll buy at the moment!

Perhaps I'll become a resident of this forum properly shortly, it depends how convincing the Omega's case is ;)

John

What a nice warm welcome! Thanks guys. I suppose you all think that Omega is a good choice!?

At this price there is little else. 1.8 Mondeos, which shred their engines at high miles because of an inlet manifold problem, and Rover 75s, but the 2.0 V6 is underpowered, the 2.5 is a bit expensive to insure, and the 1.8 K-series. Well... do I need to say any more?

I know that Omegas sometimes have issues, but by all accounts repairs and maintenance are cheaper than similar cars from other makers. Rover still seems a reasonable option though...
