because the coils stand proud of the casing on the rear of the DIS pack, there is a recess in the mounting bracket to accomodate this.

So unfortunatley, you can't feel, however, depending how back the crack is, you may, depends where it has cracked.

TBH, I would just look for a replacement, keep this as a spare, and change it when it goes.

I think I may have a look at the weekend, like you say may be worth keeping a spare but to be honest I have been thinking to get this replaced for peace of mind.

Been looking at this for a while now http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Calibra-Vectra-Omega-Astra-Coil-Pack-DIS-Unit_W0QQitemZ4615857616QQihZ002QQcategoryZ10404QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It was 99p (Yes 99p) for the DIS pack, and £5.50 P&P so £6.49, Bargain me thinks; well, provided it works that is!

Very jammy cipher, just hope it works for you.

Is it a brand new unit or from another car.

It was used, but has no cracks, so hopefully......one of the pitfalls of eBay, you can never be sure.

There is bags of room inthe 2.0 engine bay, (and bags of room for improvement as well).

I think that you could probably stand between the block and the rad!

Seems strange that whenever I see a 2.0 now I always think Euugh! 2 thirds of an engine!.

I do a lot of mechanical work for my g/f's sister, there cars are amazingly simple in comparision.

They had a G Reg 1.0 Polo, an L Reg .995 Fiat Uno and now have an L Reg 1.4 (C14NZ) Astra F.

Amazingly simple. The polo had Breaker points in the Dizzy!
