window switch bust?
« on: 15 October 2006, 09:48:20 »

Hi all,
I have a problem with one of my electric window switches.
I wonders if anyone could help me with this broken or stuck window switch. ( How to
remove it and check it.)
It's the front passanger switch on the drivers console.
My car is a Vahxall Omega 2.2 CD w reg.
Any help is welcome
Thanks and keep up the good work.

Sorry, not sure how to take facelift door card off - I understand there is a screw that is not obvious.

Hopefully one of the facelift owners will be along shortly...

Hi m8 take the easily accsesable screws out and the flap where you can put things in there is a screw at the top of that and i think thats how you get the door card off but be carfull as the light in the bottom of the door is held on by wires and it pulls a bit so be carfull i think thats it m8 good luck with it  :y

Door card removal is described in the following maintenance guide:

Facelift Door Card Removal

I assume the switch located on the front passenger door is working ok then.

the switch assembly on facelifts is clipped in place and can be removed without having to take off the entire door card. What can happen (and did on mine) is that the switches got pushed in, the circuit board behind then sits lower down than it should and doesn't make contact with the switches on the board. Remove the lot, refit and job's a good-un (well it was for mine :)) - having said that I think it affected more than one switch.

but as Mark rightly pointed out, this is assuming that the switch on the passenger door is OK - ie, the window works OK otherwise?

You dont have to take the door card off to take the switches out.....they will just lever out with the aid of a smallish flat bladed screwdriver.....once you have the switch cluster out you will find a multiway connector going to......so if you unplug it....it will be possible to put a meter across the correct pins to check it......sorry but i dont know which pins do what  :(

You can get them out but, from bitter experience, I have found that 50% will break or damage the trim around the switch so its not worth the risk for an extra 10 mins work.
