I am genuinely happy my car has a problem
« on: 13 October 2006, 20:43:30 »

Nope no stellas yet tonight - you read it right.

I am paranoid but i do believe my car has had a problem for a few weeks.

A rapid consistant tick tick ticking noise 3/4 way back, underneath on passenger side. Suspect `zaust related - well what ese is down there???

I believe a slight decrease in mpg

I believe its suddenly not as prominant in DRIVE or REVERSE before accelerating - just a marginal difference.

I then noticed it had a noise whilst sitting in drive or reverse.....oh no auto box issues..... :(

Nope i dont think so -

ive just noticed that the rattly tick i thought was coming from the autobox ( not the one 3/4 back) happens in all gears and even neutral...so clearly its not box related. I then noticed when reversing into my drive tonight its a tad more throaty...

So autobox issues no exhaust and possibly exhaust manifold problems aloha  ;)

Doesnt bother me as i was going to replace the mid to back with performance box next month - but arent the manifolds a real pain to do ? ? ?

My saving grace is that the heatshields are really really rotten, maybe just maybe its them that are rattling......

But at least its not an autobox isssue....anyone with me on my diagnoisis or could it still be a sinistere issue?

Heatshield sounds good, apart from the reduced MPG?

Markiec,
Is that ticking still going or has it stopped again?
As stated yesterday, its definately one of those mid boxes tapping against something, but you'll need it up on ramps for a good look.
All the best.

Ross - seems to come and go - but it will go sooner than later as that exhaust is being removed for shiny chrome  ;)
