any ideas, im starting to panic
« on: 09 October 2006, 15:55:20 »

Ive just developed a fault, i was on the motorway on saturday and i felt a missfire which got worse the slower i went, it feels like someone has washed my engine, then this morning the car turned over for ages before starting, then when it did start it ran ok, but the dredded missfire returned but not as bad, i rang my local dealer and he told me that it could be the dis pack, leads or the rocker gasket has leaked into the plugs ? can anyone tell me where i should start

Pull one of your leads to see if the end is coated in oil could be a leaky rocker cover gasket, then if the gaskets are ok look to check plugs and dispack.

No EM light then?

I wouldn't worry too much. It sounds like it is almost certainly your DIS pack, but as Nixoro stated, pull a lead to check.

On the downside, being a 1994 model, it is mounted bl**dy awkwardly!

DO NOT take it within 100 yards of a dealer!

This is a job you can do yourself. If it damn fiddly, but achievable. :)

As said, do not take to dealer!

If cam covers look oily, then likely to be plug wells filled with oil - fix is clean breathers, and possibly cam cover gaskets need changing

Else, leads or DIS. Both fiddly, but do-able.

Could be leads...  ...if you have a meter, might be worth measuring?

DIS and/or leads can best be described as fiddly... ...I got Tunnie to do mine  ;D

Could start a trend with wooden floored Omega's after seeing this! Why not go for a Velux window in the bonnet as well?  ;D
