remember my strange starting issue ( which by the way is still going on so i reckon its a battery issue) well meet its brother strange window behaviour.

Put window on drivers side up today and it went back down

It seems if i 1 touch close it goes straight to top and then goes back down about 2 inches - the only way to get it to close proberly is to nudge nudge nudge it shut....whats the reset combination again ? hold both front windows closed? Cant do this because as soon as i press the up button on window when its closed....it opens  :-/

Does that make sense? Anyone else had this ?

Wife thinks she had it on her Cav GSI many years ago - if so i take it its a generic vx issue?

Check FAQ for reset sequence!

Sounds like attempting reset is first port of call.

Mine goes back down when it's about 2" from the top, but then there's a big dent in the door!
Re-set is as you say, press & hold when shut, can be done individually.

was sure i had done the reset but will go try again in the am   funny thing was, as i said, strange starting problem again so in reality i have experienced this after a flat battery  :-/

in fact why wait....just been out and tried again - no joy, the problems is, when closed you need to hold the window "up" but as soon as i do this the window goes down.

So i guess the sensor/ window is " feeling resistance" somewhere  :-/

A Bit of lubrication might be in order.

Oh boy, and I thought our indoctrination of newbies was better than that!  You can't say "up", and "feeling resistance", and "lubrication" in one post!  It's really really hard not to take it A LOT further, but TB has been really helpful to me this week and I can't go there in this forum

A Bit of lubrication might be in order.

Had exactly the same problem on the wife's 53 reg Corsa. The windows do retract if resistance is encountered and the only way to get them up is, as you say, to keep nudging the button. The likely cause is dirt in the runners. You just need to clean them out with a clean lint-free rag or similar (Vx agent told me that, so it's bound to be wrong   ).

Its doing exactly what it should....there is a current sensor that monitors the motor current which detects an obstruction and then opens the window slightly (to stop it guillotining children's heads off etc).

The cure will be a simple application of a dry lube i.e. PTFE spray to the window glass runners.

I also clean my runners regularly using a very soft toothbrush, and a little fairy liquid.

I don't rub them hard, just very gently.

I said fairy liquid, not baby oil....
