Took Mrs AA out last night.

I always run the air con on auto, never drive without it on, but last night when we went out it seemed like ages before the fan started (set at 23), and there was slight misting up inside the car before the fan cut in (around 4 minutes of driving).

When we came back to the car, been parked for about 3 hours, it was all steamed up inside.

Ran the car for several minutes until the fan cut in, took ages to clear the windscreen and front passenger windows, side rear windows didn't seem to want to clear at all.

Never had the problem of it misting up before, and fan normally comes on after about 30 secs.

I changed the pollen filter on Friday (charcoal filter) arrows facing towards the rear of car, checked the scuttle drain, perfectly clear.

Air con was re-gassed about 4/5 months ago.

Any ideas please.

Weel, you have to consider that using the aircon causes condesation to form on the condensator, if the car is then turned off, the condensation will remain in the cabin area.

A short journey(s) is likely to be worse as the heater matrix never realy egts to warm and the condsation wont clear.

As a test, next time you do a journey, put the heater on full in eco mode to dry the condensator out, I bet it wont be steamed up afterwards.

Also does the ECC aircon compressor shut of if the outside temp is below 4 degrees as it does with the manual aircon?

When the engine is cold its normal for the fans to take a while to speed up, no point blowing cold air in, so it waits until there is some heat in the heater matrix. If its really chilly outside then the time for the fans to cut in will be longer.
Pressing the demist windscreen button will overide this and blow max air on the windscreen.
This may help as well.

When the engine is cold its normal for the fans to take a while to speed up, no point blowing cold air in, so it waits until there is some heat in the heater matrix. If its really chilly outside then the time for the fans to cut in will be longer.
Pressing the demist windscreen button will overide this and blow max air on the windscreen.
This may help as well.

I tried that TD, but didn't make a lot of difference, never had a problem with it before.

noticed the same with mine on shorter journeys, however the front screen always clears quickly.

Last year I ran with a small dehumidifyer thingy used for caravans which fits neatly under the passenger seat.  It pulled out about 2 cupfulls over the winter months and I thought is was wet feet, wet coats etc ( it rains a lot up here) but could just have been the condensation from the air con.

I'm off to woolies to get another one cos for £3 I had no probs last year at all

I tried that TD, but didn't make a lot of difference, never had a problem with it before.

I find mine mists up, but only if im sat in it, parked up and its raining......sometimes i have to sit there when i startup for a few mins waiting for windows to clear.....i never get it when im not in the car.....but then i rarely have the aircon on......except i did today just to give it some 'exercise'

Another answer could be......dont take Mrs AA out on a saturday night

I am guessing since you have leather, there is less moisture thats going to soak into the seats.

AA, Me, Chop all have cloth seats.

Think when i come back for xmas and get another key programed up, i might borrow that if u don't mind. Was 5 of us in the car about a month ago we all got in after it was raining so imagine where is a fair bit of moisture in there.
