Snakes in my dashboard
« on: 24 November 2006, 17:18:37 »

Ok just a quick one this but when i start me car i get a hiss coming from the centre console. The hiss goes away when i accelerate but then promptly returns. If i move the heater switch to blow out onto my feet and face it goes away but the hiss is there and changes note when you change the setting for the heat direction.

-Thanks to everyone that has helped on previous isseues i have had with my car

I wonder if a vacuum pipe has come loose behind the heater controls? Sounds likely

Take out the ashtray. Behind you'll find a single screw - undo. Pull the four temperature and circulation knobs off - more screws to. Ease the console forward and you'll see the vacuum pipes behind - reasonably accessible.
