Specification Help
« on: 30 December 2006, 19:44:30 »

I am bidding for an Omega brochure, but in the meantime, is there anywhere on line that gives detailed spec on the options that came with each car, such as Air Con etc etc...mine is a 'P' '97 3.0 Elite Auto...which I have yet to collect as a private plate is being swapped, aswell as the tax disc.

is there anyway of telling whether mine is the mini facelift model by looking externally?

I would love to be able to compare the spec with other models, and also find out what was standard and what was extra.

I am praying mine is a mini facelift...but I think it may not be.

Thanks

at a '97 i doubt its a mini-facelift. This came in around 1998.

General additions to the mini-facelift in 1998 are steering wheel controls upgraded trip, various other bits.

Best way to tell if you have a mini-facelift is if you have steering wheel controls.

post 1998 elites, had factory fit bose sound system.. few other things but i forget..  ::)

Apparently...it has steering wheel controls....but the owner is elderly....i suspect he may be referring to the horn!

All of the range interior trim upgraded, including side airbags, sat nav standard on elites.

Just noticed the car and spec, 31k miles? Is that the puple/blue one on eBay? AA badge on the front grill?

Ask about controlling the radio though the steering wheel  ;)

Also look at the speaker grills, if they say Bose then its a mini facelift  :y

Minifacelift (Elite) will have steering wheel audio controls, CCR800 radio, HID lights, different grill etc...

On a P, very unlikely to be minifacelift......

Another minor point - the pre-minifacelift had a Vx badge on the bbot which looked like a flat enamel badge with a black background, the minifacelift had a metalic silver coloured badge with the original body colour as background. But the minifacelift only started from 98R onwards anyway... never mind, I had a pre-minifacelift 97R for three years and it was superb!

I am chuckling...yes, pics are not the sellers strong point.

My old beemer is due an MOT, I was working, it was 4am, so i searched for a car close to home...just stumbled across it...didn't know too much about them...then found this forum....i have read so many posts here now....best forum I have seen, friendly too.....i can't wait to get it.

I suspect i may have paid too much, but new tyres, mot, tax and shockers etc...saves in the long run....i am not sure what the market value is....

i would love it to be a mini facelift....i like the idea of a bose system with xenons...i have read all the hdd bulb threads...i might be reading them again if it is not a mini facelift

Probably is over the top price wise for a 9 yr old car, but that is stupidly low mileage.  I do hope it is 98 model yr, HIDs alone make it a better car...

The cars first regsitration is given as 24 May 1997, so i'm afraid it will not be minifacelift... my previous Omega was first registered in Oct 1997, and was pre-minifacelift...

Also... the MOT date is November, not May... so either the car has been on SORN for a while (makes sense considering the low mileage), or the first day of registration was NOT May 1997 but later, in which case you may still have a chance...

The (lady?) owner seem to know bugger all about the car... when asked about Xenons, she has no clue what these are. Also she says that the wind deflector in front of the sunroof is 'standard fitting '... I don't thnk it was...?

Either way I would take it.... pre-minifacelift or not....
