Air Bag Light    RESETTING TOOL
« on: 02 January 2007, 12:43:21 »

where or what can i buy !, to reset the air bag warning light ?.
My 98 elite 3 ltr auto saloon, with satnav and climate control had a flat battery and when i tried to start it, "before" fully charging the battery it put the airbag light on.
Ive enquired before to try and purchasse something to reset it without going to the dealers but to no avail.
Sureley their must be something , if the dealers can reset it why is their no after market product .
or can someone surprise me , now that ive found this excellent web site.
Looking forward to some response,
regards jud

Who ever told you tech2 won't reset the airbag light is talking bull, tech2 is used on all vauxhalls from Corsa's to Omega's. It's used to diagnose and alter ANYTHING on the cars ECU. Tech2 will reset the light, a dealer should be able to do it for you, but at silly prices (usually around £40 just to plug it in)

Do you reckon the Item number: 160049536957 on ebay at £24-00 will do the job .
Or does ANYBODY know of something better or cheaper.
Thanks in advance

Yes the cheapo tech2 should be able to reset airbag light (I borrowed one, and it could reset light, but struggled to read why light was on for me).  Supplied software very buggy, and often in Hungarian. Needs a computer with a real COM1 (troublesome with usb to serial adapters, and despite what software implies, it must be com1).

Note, this item is not the same thing as a real Tech2 as used by Vauxhall dealers - that cost several thousand...

For the money, the cheapo Tech2 is worthwhile (as you have a PC with proper COM1), though code reading and light resetting is about its limit.  As I said in earlier post, the software can be frustrating at times...
