Just thought I'd take my trusty paperclip and flash out the codes, before I went to work tonight.

The codes I got were as follows:

12 (start of diagnosis)
15 Coolant temperature sensor Voltage high
19 Incorrect Revs per Minute (RPM) signal (crankshaft sensor). Incorrect signal, check sensor
34 Cannot find
73 Mass air flow temperature Voltage low

Would any of this indicate why it's running like a pile of poo and misfiring? I can't remember if code 19 is normal or if it's 31 that's normal with the engine off (never had time to get it started), and doubt it would run long enough for a paperclip test anyway.

Any ideas?

Hang on, I thought this pile of   was a 2.0??

Edit: A dodgy crank sensor can also cause the car to run like a dog (just before it refuses to run at all).

IIC you always get 19 if the engine is not running? Drive shaft not spinning?  :-/

15 - Could be a nackered sensor in the header tank, any warning about coolant on the mid?

73 - I had that on my shed 3.0 Elite Estate, car ran fine (as sheds doo) but no serious misfiring.


34 - Exhaust Gas Re-circulation (EGR) valve -  That could cause problems! But out of my depth here....

19 aint good.

The MAF and EGR probably tie in together as a single problem.

Yes, this pile of Poo is a 2.0.

I've still got quite a few 2.0 spare parts mind.

Are we saying crank sensor is shagged? Would that cause a missfire?

What should I do with the MAF/EGR code?

Ok. The codes.

19 is the duff crank sensor code.

73 always seems to come up with 19... not sure why, just seems be one of those things.
If it was a dodgy AFM you would get the car cutting out the moment you press the throttle.

15 Coolant temp sensor. Check the wiring to the sensor on the engine block. Not sure where it is on the 2.0, probably round the back.

34. EGR Valve voltage too high... Hmmm, a sticking valve maybe?

I if correct think its located next to the DIS pack at the back of the engine.

Just a thought, no issues with the cam sensor? TB mentioned if mine failed it run like a sack of sh!t

EGR valve is round back next to DIS pack.

Unusual to have AFM fail, but if you have a spare, try it.

I would be checking the cambelt first...
