Staying on the subject of cams etc
« on: 02 February 2007, 11:39:30 »

When I bought the bits from Vauxhall for the cam covers the sealent I was given is bright luminous green....is this the correct type for the cam cut out half moon bits etc

And the sealant I was given for the cooler cover is a bright luminous pink-red...is that right?

Thanks

I don't actually know but well done for asking - there seem to be a lot of confusion and many Vx parts dept don't give out the correct sealant - so I suggest that before going ahead with any work you wait for a qualified reply from one of the resident sage ones...

Here is the guide by Marks DTM

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152564281

Quoting:
Sealent, Black (not the Green stuff!): 90485251, 1 off

Dont let the parts guy tell you any different as the green snot turns brown and becomes very brittle and just doesn't last.

Not sure about the other

Noth are wrong.

The camcover gasket sealent is black......some parts people always give the green stuff which is used for the cam bearing caps....so you will need it any way if changing the cams....

The oil cooler plate sealent is dark grey and in a 2 inch long silicon style applicator and goes in a sealent gun....

I cant get hold of any grey sealant...would hylomar blue or the hermatite red do the job?
