.. between about 51 and 65 mph. .Towards the 50mph it's worse, and go over 70 it totally disappears.

Wheel balance?  Or worse?

I've had this develop over the last couple of days, only had them balanced about 5 weeks ago.
Think I'll check if those stick on weights are still there.........

Old trick i was told about after having sticky wheel wieghts fitted to alloys. Put a patch of good duck tape over them. The extra weight of the tape will not affect the balance and will stop the water and grime getting underneath the sticky and forcing the weights off.
Used it many times and works for me. [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

A very common and annoying problem.

There always seems to be wheel out of balance at any time.

Worn suspension components may make it worse.

One more point to consider regarding wheel balancing, is that many of the smaller back-street local tyre fitters tend to only balance the front ones as the rear ones ‘don’t need doing’.

This is obviously wrong, since the only difference between the front and the rear is that you do not feel any wobble at the rear because there is no steering mechanism there, but the uneven tyre wear will still be present. As for a claim I heard that the tyres have no room to manoeuvre in the absence of the steering mechanism in the rear, this is even worst because the forces generated don’t just go away – if the tyre can’t move then the ‘wobble’ will be wholly absorbed by the tyre and the suspension, causing even more wear…

In short all four tyres need to be balanced.
