Heater matrix rubber pipes???
« on: 30 March 2007, 14:47:43 »

Hi to all I have got a 1995 Vauxhall Omega 2.5 V6 CDX automatic I (well my wife ) has just sorted out the cam belt problem. But now we need more help, Under the bonnet the right hand side, there are two short rubber pipes that connect to the heater matrix, the top pipe has got a split in it :'(, the end of the rubber pipe that connects to the Heater matrix seems to have no normal jubile clip, it has some thing that I have never seen before, and I dont know how to undo it!!!. I have looked in the haynes manaul but all it says is disconect the pipe, not how to undo the clip.
So if any of you can help please let me know.
                        Thanks

Ah yes, these damn "twist lock" connectors!   >:(

Do my head in as I have not mastered the technique to remove them!

Hopefully Matchless/Marks DTM will be along soon as they can remove these with total ease!

Took me ages to work out how to disconnect these things, now you want me to try to explain it it words????

First apply some form of local anaesthetic to the backs of your hands.
If there is a green plastic split ring it can be removed and discarded.
Look for a pair of small tabs protruding from the connector, on the bulkhead side. You have to press these in while pulling back on the outer sleeve of the connector, if you get it right then the sleeve slides back (towards you) and then it just a case of pulling and wriggling the pipe till it comes away from the metal pipe (they tend to be a bit sticky)

The tabs are diametrically opposed and access is really tight, it sometimes works to apply pull to the sleeve, then press one tab, then the other while keeping the pull applied to the sleeve.

Oh by the way, there is only room for one hand in there >:(

don't think so..  I think the connector in question looks like an elaborate garden hose fitting.

No...its one of these:

You can see one of the tabs on the top of the connector in the photo.....press these in and the ring pulls back abou 5mm or so.

Then twist the pipe assembly until it rotates easily and it should just pop off.....
