Question For TheBoy!
« on: 07 April 2007, 11:16:16 »

Hi Jamie, do you know if the paperclip test can be done on the 2001 model Astra, only my sisters EML light has just come on, although the car appears to be running o.k. Do the Astras have a service warning light?

2001 Astra - Astra G? My wife's Astra doesn't have a service light but you get INSP  show up on the trip odometer. I used to know how you reset it but lost the info when my PC died - same though I believe as the sevice light on later Omegas. (Along the  lines of - press the trip odometer reset button with ignition off, keep it pressed while you turn the ign on and keep it pressed untill you get ---- )

What about a cheapo Tech II? Mine read the the faults from the seat belt pre-tensioner of my 'Astra shed' and then reset it, it can also read the faults thrown up from the MAF meter.

Good idea, but not really worth it as a one off, besides which I believe a laptop with a com port is needed, unfortunately I do not own a laptop, with or without a com port.

1.6 Astra G's cannot be paperclipped.  The diag socket is under handbrake recess.

Service light is reset be holding the reset button for 3s whilst turning on ignition I believe...

My Dad already had a suitable lap-top, and I now consider the tool to have already paid for itself now that it's reset the air bag light on my diseasel Astra.  :)

If its the same as the VeccyC yes thats the way to do it......it will prob come up with summat like 22k miles to go to next service on the display.....but in my experience with the VeccyC its whinges it needs a service again after about 9k miles!
