It's the wadding from the silencer.

I'd recommend lining up a new exhaust. If the wadding is coming out there is probably more to come and it could block or partially block the exhaust. If the exhaust blocks it can go bang. If it partially blocks you'll get reduced power and may not notice.

Isn't there always the chance that the baffles will break up and block the exhaust causing it to stop? If I needed to do 700 miles a week I think I'd be having as new back box fitted.
