I hope I've run over a witch!
« on: 10 April 2007, 21:36:14 »

Hi Guys I need some help! ;) Driving through Wales on Sunday in the Omega stopped to have a pint, there on the tow bracket was a swarthe of silver grey hair. Don't remember running over any old ladies! Or sucking one up into the exhaust from where, some of the hair seemed to be trying climb out.
Presume the I have a dead cat( not up the exhaust). What do you guys think!
The cars done 133k and I still do 700miles plus a week in the old Omega. :y

My CDX did this for Ages, don't think it was the cats.. passed an MOT after it... emissions were low..

But then.. I had no love for that car...

Sounds like mid section or backbox to me...

Its the wadding in the silencer.  Will probably have to 1) live with noise and upset neighbours, or 2) get a new silencer.

Some of the stuffing fibreglass noise reducing wool blown out, start to worry if the engine looses power.

Might start to get rattly due to the baffles, or what is left of them, moving about in the exhaust box. Had a baffle slightly block an exhaust once and the 6 cylinder engine had as much poke as a moped.  :-[New exhaust sorted it though. :y

Hope your right. But there is no extra noise. The car seems to run better now than it has done for a few weeks. :)

This is personal opinion, and not all would agree, but if the car isn't worth much, the exhaust is not making an awful noise and flowing freely... I would personally ignore it :)

Yes, there was bits of baffle in the silver hairy thing.

I agree with you, the car is  not worth much on the open market but it worth a lot of money to me :'(. I need to keep it going as every time it does the 700+miles I do a week it earns me a decent living ;D. No point putting such a high mileage on a low mileage car. :y

I had a witch living in the back box of a Cav Sri - until I overtook a Rover V8.  I dropped it into 2nd at 50mph and floored it - boom - big cloud of smoke and a dead Yorkshire Terrier rolling in the road behind.  I went back to investigate - no dog - just the baffle wadding, the sudden burst of speed forced it out in one go.  So, drive nicely and it may run for a while longer, at worst it will just get noisy and then fall off  :D
