MV6 back box
« on: 15 April 2007, 17:26:12 »

Hi Guys, i wonder if i could pick at someones brain for a few mins...

I have scanned the forums for a simular thread, alhtough not found any answers as yet.

I have a 2.6 MV6, only bought it a few weeks ago.  When buying it i gave it a thorough once over, although i managed to miss the rottern back box.

Yesterday i noticed that i need to replace this as it's blowing a little,  so my quicjk question is - Do i buy a genuine GM back box or an aftermarket jobbie?  i have no idea what a back box would cost from GM or if a stainless sporty one would be better on the MV6.

I was stung a while back with my aftermarket cat on my 2L 4-pot Omega and don't wan't to fall foul of the same problems.

Any help would be great on this...

Cheers

Only go with a genuine Vx back box.

I would anticipate a price of around £100 along with a couple of new brackets.

Quite frankly the cheaper options are a false economy.

Cheers LB.  £100 notes was a little more than i first thought, so I think the box can wait for a few months, maybe until after summer as i can blob the hole until then!

I need to do some work on my old omega before it hit the shag-mag, so the MV6 will have to wait.

LB - am i right in thinking you may have a locking kit for a 2ltr engine?  if so... please please please with cherries on top may i loan it for my belt change?  I'll chuck in a few bevvies for your trouble!

Cheers
Marc

PS: Was £100 for Trade club?

Yep i'll deffo get the GM box then!  Thanks for your input chaps, i don't know what i'd do without it?  I'd probably not be able to afford an Omega...  :(

Maybe i could snipe a Trade card for a day or so while i buy a box.  I'll sort some bevvies out for any offers...

Cheers
Marc

If you update your profile to give your location there may be someone near you that can help with the TC.
