Exhaust and MPG
« on: 20 April 2007, 12:17:35 »

Hi All, can anyone tell me if an exhaust fault can increase your MPG, my back box has blown the stuffing out of it, since then my round town consumption has gone from 20.2 average MPG, to 17.7 MPG according to the MID.

I don't know for sure if it does although I suspect that it would.  I am hoping for an increase when I get my new system fitted.  I will let you know the outcome.

I think it is fibreglass stuffing in the box, I'd love to get 24 round town but I would probably have to push it most of the time to hit that. Judging by the paperwork I got with the car, this is the original Vaux exhaust, the car has now done 104,000 miles, they just don't make things to last anymore  ;D ;D ;D

My MPG went up by 2 or 3 when I replaced the Exhaust.  Currently reading 36mpg on the MID but I have to admit most of my miles are motorway
