Explosive Exhaust!!
« on: 21 April 2007, 10:02:21 »

Well the exhaust on the car let go in a big way on the motorway today :(. Doin about 90 and there was a huge bang(nearly soiled myself I can tell you). Got home to find good sized hole in passenger side centre box and the stuffing coming out of the back-box tail pipe :o Gave the cats a good thump and they dont seem to be rattling so hopefully they will be ok , but I've never known an exhaust to self destruct in this way before.

Maybe the tail pipe went and the back pressure caused the rest to go :-/ :-/?

So I know everyone says Vx is best for exhausts but I dont have a trade club card and was wondering what sort of price I'm looking at to get it fitted there or maybe try my local garage or even (shock/horror) Kwik Fit :o :o

Would preffer not to do it myself cos I'm realy up to my eyeballs in sh1t with the house at the mo :'( , but I'm so broke  :'( that as a total last resort I may have to try and fit it in somewhere [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Ouch that does sound like its one major back fire or as you say blockage of some kind.

Something Abit like that happened to my Ex Wifes car but it was the old dissy collapsed and the backfire blew the whole exhaust off.

If your strapped for cash get on ebay looking there are always bargains to be had sometimes new Non Vx one are ok but they are alot louder than the Vx vorts if you can live with it

Agreed with others here, don't go non-gm. You will regret it...

Steve - Join the autobahnstomers (£20) you will get the card about a week later, you will then get trade prices at Vauxhall.

You will easily get your membership fee back buying an exhaust its a good £100+ cheaper on trade  :y
