original factory trim
« on: 27 April 2007, 08:03:03 »

can anybody help with this one...how can you identify what level of trim( i.e leather seats)would have been originally fitted to my car ...1998 2.5 elite...it has black leather recaro front seats with side air bags..only electric up/down..heated..(but only passenger side works)..back seats are leather but the pattern seams slightly different..these would seem to be also heated but as yet cannot get them to work......the reason for the question is that am trying to identify if it has undergone major refurb work..all door cards are leather so could be cosher but want to be sure ...original owner bought and stored for 2 years as was collecter so cannot trace history back..also slightly concerned that all the wiring for rear heated seats seems to be disconnected as when i lift out seat pad lots of wire connecters but nothing seems to be plugged in??..would be nice to get it all working as original

I think leather was an optional extra on the 2.5 elite, but standard on the 3.0.
But I know this probably doesn't help at all.

Sounds like its possibly had a set of MV6 leather front seats fitted .....these are HIGHLY sought after......and worth good money

Does it have auto dipping rear view mirror?

It should have memory seats fitted as sports seat were not an option on such an early elite...

Thanks....rear view mirror is standard and both front seats are only electric for up/down movement..both are fitted with side air bags and are heated although as stated earlier only passenger side seems to work...was wondering if any code number on chassis to identify if they were standard fit from factory

I think Recaro made the electronics bits, maybe they did the whole seat.. My leather, from Jims Elite spec (not Mv6 leather) has that on the bottom too.

If you've got leather front seats, but they don't have memory functions on the drivers side then they sound like MV6 leather seats that have been retro-fitted to your car.

The heater not working might be the element busted rather than not wired in..

Post up a pciture, you'd get the definitive answer immediately ;)

Heater elements not working is quite common and be careful when moving the wires under the seat you might get the airbag light come on.

Reading jim's brochure says no memory on optional recaro leather, so that answers one question i had, & may explain why I have no dipping mirror, even tho I couldn't find the plug in the headlining.

I seem to have them on a 97P TD est. but no dip mirror & no bose. By the way I have steering controls which dont do anything to sc804. Is it wrong stereo or wrong wheel.
I'd swop mem seats for sports anyday comfier & more headroom. They look better too.

I suspect yours are retro fitted then, afaik, only an option from mini facelift on...
