Will facelift omega doors fit on a prefacelift omega?

I need to replace my drivers side rear door and just wondered if they would fit.

As facelift doors had better corrosion protection, then they would be an ideal fitment to a pre facelift car.

Very interesting to know that the later doors will fit the older cars - I need two rear doors - just need to fit a suitable donor car!

If you do fit the doors to your car, could you let us know how you got on?

Actually I'm not at all convinced that the facelift doors do have any better corrosion protection other then the fact that they are not as old as pre facelift doors and thus haven’t had the opportunity to start corroding in the usual place i.e. under the window seal weather strip. They are sadly not zinc galvanised like the doors produced at Wolfsburg by another esteemed German manufacturer. I would be very interested to know what parts of the face lifted Omega have been zinc galvanised, as Paul Daniels used to say "Not a lot". Still why let facts spoil good marketing? Obviously fitting the later and newer doors is the better option if available. The corrosion problem on the door skin is caused by filo form corrosion which forms under the paintwork and is a result of the poor manufacture of the stretched steel panels when they were originally pressed. This is a problem that has also afflicted the mighty Mercedes E class with vengeance. The paintwork is not actually at fault hence it’s very difficult to get rid of the corrosion once the process starts underneath.

Cool 8-)

Sounds like it could work then have been on the look out and found a facelift rear door, just need to make sure the colour code is the same then I maybe onto a winner.

I'm assuming later omega colours come up slightly brighter but I could be wrong.

Cheers for the confirmation guys :y
