Finally read gearbox ecu - advice needed
« on: 09 May 2007, 17:24:34 »

Guys

Here I am again wanting your expert opinion on my omega!

Finally read gearbox ecu and found the following:-

P0727 - Engine speed input circuit, no signal ? is this Crank Sensor?

P1781 - Can databus - ecm act torque signal malfunc detected

P1740 - AT Torque control signal malfunction.

Cleared these stored codes and then read engine ecu,

Presented with these codes:-

P0340 - Camshaft sensor - changed in Sept 2006?
P1700 - MIL request

Does this mean I need a new gearbox as car drives okay ?
Will a recon one do or is this repairable?

Cheers

Mark

Thanks for getting back to me, could this still be the cam sensor even though it was only changed in sept '06?

I thought the Gearbox ECU codes were indicating a more serious problem?

Cheers

Does it sruggle to start sometimes? when hot?

If so change the cam sensor again!

If not they could be old codes......so i would just clear them first to see if any come back.

They look suspiciously just like the codes i was getting when it was my cam sensor.

I still get P1700.......but ignore it.....i carnt read the g/b ecu anymore with cheapo tech2 since it was upgraded to latest version.....so dont know what mine is complaining about.....but imo unless theres summat wrong with the g/b i would leave alone

Here we are again Taxi !

You are right, I do have trouble starting, if car takes more that 2 turnovers to start, EML comes on and sports mode is prohibited (Limp).

If I then turn off,  wait for lights to go out, car starts straight away and EML goes off!

As I am an Aerospace Avionics engineer, I may try and chase the wiring on from the CAm sensor and replace the wiring loom and sensor at the same time.

Does anyone know where the wiring runs to ?

Cheers again

Yep defo just like mine used to do......new cam sensor fixed mine and like AA's i believe

If youve already changed it back in Sept06, I assume its been ok for a while since?
If not, did you change it yourself? Just i mention this, as a lying stealer told me they had changed it  >:(

I would assume the wires goto the ecu......if your planning on replacing them.....which i would only do after changing the sensor again.....i would think its probably easier to run new wires....and cut the old ones off....as i suspect the wires will disapear into a big loom and be near on impossible to seperate them.

Thanks Taxi !

I may well try a new sensor, my father in law owns the garage that changed it in Sept so i do trust that it was done however these things can fail quickly.

With regards to the wiring, i wouldn't even attempt to break into the wiring loom, thats asking for trouble, I will look at the schematic wiring diag on a little bit of software that I have - mentioning no names !

Other than that I will buzz out from the sensor plug end and back to main ecu to trace wiring.

Thanks for the advice again.

Cheers

Was if definatively the CAM sensor changed last time, not CRANK sensor?
