Oil leak drip drip drip

I have a 1997 3.0l Elite and I have a (bad) oil leak. I had it up on the ramps today as I suspected it was the cam cover gaskets but having a good round I'm not so sure.
The starter motor is covered in oil and the Sensor (crankshaft??) next to the oil filter is covered too. The oil then sort of joins up and makes a mess of the drive.

Question: Is there something in the 'V' between the two cynder banks that could leak or could it be cam cover gaskets but its hard to see?
On the Rover V8 there is a valley gasket, does the Vauxhall have one of these?

There are some oil pipes going to oil oil in V. Additionally, the cam gaskets can leak towards the V.

Any oil in plug wells?  If so, change cam gaskets, if not, whip off the inlet and investigate.

Unlikely the oil in th cooler itself will leak anywhere other than into the coolant, but the seals between the cooler banjo bolts and its feed/return pipes can fail, though not that common....

My money is on cam covers... the oil leaking from them - especially at the back of the engine - can find some very strange routes... I noticed mine was leaking when I looked under the car while it was on the lift at Tony's in Watford and I saw that the cross-member behind the sump was wet.... and when they leak, they can leaks badly (I was loosing 1kg of oil for 1000 miles).

Cant see any oil in the plug wells. Will try and take the top bit off Monday.

Ive just taken of the inlet bit and cant see any oil anywhere. Its def not the cam cover gaskets.  Is there something at the back or top that I cant see that could be leaking?

You have taken out all 6 plug leads where they attach to the plugs and all are completely dry?  :-?

Yep, the spark plug leads are completly dry. I can see a bit of oil under the bit in the pic, but I cant get the bolts out, my 10mm socket slips and 9mm is too small.

Just to let all that helped know. It was the rear banjo joint on the oil cooler that was leaking.
