Why do I get the strange problems?
« on: 19 September 2007, 22:09:52 »

My miggy is pretty good.  However, when it goes wrong it often seems to be something unusual.  Apparently no one has had to have a starter replaced?  9hrs and no replies.  OK, that failure was due to flooding.  And yes, my crank sensor went once.  But still, am I really the only one?  :-/

Not looking forward to paying a shop to do this one.  :'(

It has been almost a month.  Seems to be getting worse, but can't be sure.  Sometimes it goes on about the 5th turn of the key.  Lately, it seems to take 15-20 turns of the key.  Too much worse and I'll end up stuck somewhere.  >:(

That's where I run into problems.  Apparently you have to remove a motor mount to get it out?  I don't have several days to run around getting parts and tools to do this with, including an engine hoist or one of those cross-bar things (I made my last one of those from decking - worked great!).

That is, of course, if you have to remove an engine mount.

On the 2.0, it's a peice of cake.

I have a fantastic jack and stands, though :y

Apart from friends I've already agreed to help, I'm soon very unlikely to be doing any more work on cars (apart from my own).

That said, as it's you -  if you cover travel costs, I'll happily come over and give you a hand, for no more than a few beers.

Only question is, when...  I have so much on...

Never really looked where it is on a V6. Easy enough to get to on a tractor - I've changed mine a few times ;)

IIRC, it's on the opposite side, on the V6...

Thanks for the offer, but like you said time is the problem.  Guess I'll book it into the shop.  That is going to cost a mint I'm sure.
