Friends, Romans, Countrymen and great Omega pals....Please read as I'm getting desparate.
Blinkin' Heck. !!!!
Still me, banging on about trying to get heat into the car.
Right ! All the pipes are connected to the right places at last and I'm 99% sure that
hot water is getting to the Matrix...certainly after a while both pipes flowing too and
from the Matrix are getting nice and hot BUT still hardly any heat coming in to the car.
On the advice of a fellow forum member I ran the car for a while just in case I had an airlock
in the Matrix and to be honest it did help slightly especially at speed where the air went from very luke
warm to ermmmmmm a bit more luke warm.
BUT HERE'S SOMETHING THAT MIGHT HELP THE EXPERTS PIN POINT MY PROBLEM.
At various times during my "air block" eradicating exercise up the A14 tonight...the fan stopped ever so often...only for a few seconds then started up again...spooky but true.
NOW ! When I finally got home I left the engine running for a moment and suddenly realised a huge fan noise from the left passenger footwell...NOISE as in working fine but just a tad loud with tons of air flowing.
NOW ! Don't laugh..REMEMBER I am a DIMBO. I went to investigate, STILL with the engine running and unfortunately my best investigative tool that I have is my hands.....MISTAKE !
Upon groping with my hands down and up beyond the glove box my left hand made contact with something bloody sharp and spinning at great speed....fast enough to make small work of the tips of my fingers.....
After jumping from the footwell, screaming that I'd just lost the tip of all my fingers, bloody pouring down my left arm, I stood and said to myself "that can't be right"....unless its another one of the Omegas extra well thought out toys.....ie: Automatic toe nail clippers for passengers in the front seat...NOW thats thoughtfull of GM. But then I got to thinking that it was unlikely on the basis that it can't be too handy to have your toe's chopped off while you go for a drive to the shops or where ever because walking could be a tad difficult without toes.....something you could get used to I'm sure...but it's just kinda unlikely that Vauxhall would want to incorporate such a gadget in their "top of the range model".
So fully bandaged up, I took another look, still with the engine running and low and behold, a piece of "cladding" underneath was missing, exposing a huge powerfull fan of some sort, the blades of which I suspect, had amputated the tips of my fingers. The result of said fan was that tons of air was pumping directly down in to the passenger foot well, WHICH my brain has surmised is supposed to be diverted elsewhere...perhaps...just perhaps..its the culprit as to why I'm getting no heat in to the car.
Now ! After that long drawn out comedy of errors...could some kind soul explain whats wrong here...I took a look, with the engine off this time as I didn't fancy a scalping and saw that a piece of cladding had "gone"..Bugger knows where BUT I strongly suspect I need to replace it.....ideally before my wife travels with me again..She's already completely lost one toe nail...not down to me or my vehicles I hasten to add BUT I'll be seeing my maker a lot sooner than planned if she gets caught by the "Vauxhall toe nail clipper."
I can get a piece of hardboard cut to size to fit in to the clips if need be...Is that all thats needed and by so doing will the tremendous air flow then be diverted to where it needs to go to blow heat in to the car.
Hope I've made sence and not bored you too much. Any help and advice on this would be greatly appreciated...not even getting any tea and sympethy from the wife....she's laughing too much...Darn it ?
Regards,
Chris (Duggs)
