Cambelt markings V6
« on: 11 June 2007, 08:49:40 »

Hi everyone,
can anybody help with finishing my cambelt change.
Got the genuine kit + water pump and did the cam cover gaskets at the same time.
Everything great till I camr to fit the new belt. There are no markings on the new belt. No timing marks and no directional arrows.
Went back to the dealer this morning and he's told me there are no markings on any new belts now.
Got a copy of the DVD and it was great, but now I'm stuck.

If there are markings on the old belt still I'd copy them across.

You don't really need the markings if you watch the DVD closely. It was only marked as a guide, once you turn the engine the marks no longer align anyway. As long as you locked everything correctly you should be ok. You should see that the cams have a mark on them and so does the rear cover, these should be in line and then the cam alignment tool will prove this to be so.
Good luck :y
