Hi to all i hope you can help me.
                      Last Friday I used gunk and a pressure washer on the engine of my 1997 2.6 V6 automatic Omega Tourer. I done it all with the engine running.
 I went out in it on Sunday It was missing a little bit, but soon cleard up.
I got it out of the drive this morning, it was missing but still had power, But I then went to go out in it at 8 am but it had a job to get up to 10 mph, and it was back firing . I have just checked the cambelt and marks and all is fine
so please any other things I should check :question also when I tried to rev the car hard a lot of white smoke cam out, and smelt of rotten eggs
          Please help

Something is wet, I suspect removing and cleaning and drying a coil pack will help

                  I am off out now to take the coil pack off, dry it and refit.
I will let you all know if that has sorted it.

Water in plug wells? Water anywhere really.

Any fault codes, if not, concentrate on HT side of things.

And a lesson learned - do not pressure wash and engine!

Too many sensors and connectors to pressure wash a modern enigne.

Absolutely, as its just the same as pressure washing really - lots of water over all the electrics....

As said - coil, plugs, leads are usual mis fire suspects.

But a wet engine may complicate matters......check the obvious and report back on performance..

My wife and i used a aqua vac on it, and used some WD40, and it goes like a dream

next time I wash my engine I will send it away to the dry cleaners lol

Personally i wouldnt buy a car that has had the engine jetwashed or steam cleaned......i always think the owner is trying to hide an oil leak.

So TD you like a very dirty engine and engine bay then? You dirty, evil, man , how could you leave these engines soooooooooo dirty. Even if you have an oil leak and unable to see it, you still leave it dirty or do you clean it to find out where the oil leak is coming from? Nothing wrong wiv cleaning the engine and bay as long as you leave the engine switched off and cover most of the electrics (if you can that is) then dry it off and use damp start if it's being a pain to start. I always clean my engine all the time, but it is a 2.0ltr, so maybe the  bigger engines are different, I never seem to have a problem. I suppose it all depends on how long you are rinsing the engine for, BUT never leave the engine running thats a no no.

But surely some cleaning of the engine is perfectly ok? And surely it depends on how much pressure the presure washer is pushing out. Like I said  I have had no problem's before with all the cars I have had. I don't know if the 2.5's or 3.0ltr's and bigger are different though.

Not at all.....altho i can never be bothered to clean my engine bay......I was very impressed with AA's and chopsdad engine bays at the weekend  ......they dont jetwash/steamclean.....it was the jetwash/steamcleaning i dont like to see.....as said before maybe hiding oil leaks if its just been done on a car thats up for sale.
When my camcover gasket let go....i discovered a lot of oil had got to the back of the engine low down and  over the gearbox housing......i used a biodegradable sprayon degreaser and then used a hosepipe with a trigger nozzle (so i could shut off the water quickly) to carefully wash it off.
If i had an oil leak somewhere else I think i would use the same degreaser and wipe it off using kitchen towels.....depending how close it was to electrics......but on these cars theres sensors/electrics everywhere.

TB has very good point here......if water does get into connectors.....even if it doesnt short out the connections....then it will start to corrod/rust the contacts and then nightmare time when you start getting an intermittant connection.....trying to find it..
