V6 air intake

Hi continueing the saga of my cambelt change, when removing the twin intake ducts from the front of the engine, mounted on the lower part by two torx is a rounded rectangular unit with 2 vac pipes, 1 large than the other.
Anybody know what it does as the larger pipe is broken.

Its a vac tank to operate the multiram sysetm, without it the engine lacks low down torque (below 4000rpm) and you have an air leak to boot....

They can be fixed with a blob of epoxy.
