parking sensors

just got a parking sensor set from Netto - £14.99  tried it out in kitchen with spare battery and it works giving a fairly accurate reading on the display and squeaks in the right way.

Just read DTM's excellent maintainance guide on how to install these things-  but note that Mark is fitting it to a pre facelift model - anyone fitted to a facelift model as I dont want to go drilling holes in the rear bumper if there is no space behind to drop wires down. Anyone know what, if anything, is behind the bumper

Fitted the display with sounder just in front of auto stick and ran wires down side of centre console ,under carpet in rear, under seat and round side of boot to storage area at side (where 6 track players used to live) and installed electronics here. Power supply comes from reverse lights relay set up for towing electrics. Taped sensors to top of bumper and :y B**** H*** for £14.99 :y it got me to 1.5 foot from a wall before it screamed

Now want to fit them into the rear bumper - hence my question

Don't think it was Marks guide, and it is for a pre-facelift.

I fitted them to a facelift, there's a lot of impact material behind a facelift rear bumper.

I straightened out a wire coat hanger, bodged it through, after drilling holes if the rear bumper, attached the sensor wires to the end of the coat hanger and pulled them through.

Bit fiddly, but got there in the end.

I might have a photo of the finished article somewhere, to give you a guide as to where to drill.

I'll see if I can sort it out.

One thing i'd say is follow the instructions and don't fit them lower than the minimum height advised. I recently fitted them on a New Transit lower than the required height and the bloody things bleep when the road level rises. I made up wedges to lift the angle of measurement but still less than perfect.
