Knocking suspension
« on: 17 June 2007, 10:55:26 »

Recently had the nearside wishbone replaced on my Omega Elite because it was rattling. The same noise appeared on the offside last week so I put the car in my local workshop and had the other one changed (I assumed that was the problem). I still have the  noise on the offside when going over the slightest uneven surface . During the week I will get the car jacked up and have a look. Do any of you have an idea of the probable cause. Is there another common suspension problem ?

Many thanks in advance

Will probably be the anti roll bar droplinks.  See my similar post a few down from here as regards best deals/locations.  They are very straightforward to replace and, if totally rusted to bu**ery, simply hacksaw the old ones off then bolt up the new ones.  Straightforward!

Very common problem, have changed many on Carltons and also Fords. As Hotel 21 said easy peesy to do just make sure the nuts are tight on the connecting swivel or the fault will soon come back. I have found that with the use more of the ''speed bumps'' that the links fail on a regular basis.

Also check the suspension spring on the struts. again these break with the coil usually in a place that you cannot see i.e right at the top under the wing.
