Or whatever its called.

Now it has a gearbox (thanks to LB66, JV6CDX, Tunnie, and Ronnie), time to get back to its overheating issues.

As I really, really, really do not want to take head off (I think it may be beyond my limited abilities), and further ideas before I have to go down that route?

Have a bash at what we all said on Sunday Try and Run Her With The Grill Off to see if she drops in Temp By a Good Amount

We gave that a try, took the grill off and a run to Halse. It did run cooler apparently, but not by much.

The overheating problem - I've not followed this one for some time due to problems at work - but I've recently read on a French site something about bad earthing causing high temperature readings - before tackling the head, are you sure that the problem is real and not sensor-related?

Ow yes, its real......live Tech2 readings (the ecu temp sensor does not use the 0V chassis connection) and the occasional appearanch of 'old Faithful' from the coolant tank cap

You are too kind to it. There is always some activity around the cap. Usually just hissing, but if I have been thrashing the nuts off it, coolant will pop out...

hi i have seen previous thread but  normally in my experience the water pump failing will dump
water after a good thrashing or thermostat failing to open enough.   you probably already
checked this but just a thought!!!

Hi Jaime, i know i have posted about this problem before but a thought has just come to me. Many years ago on a totally different car i remember that the expansion bottle had gone brittle and became pourous, it let out the pressure but not the coolant but it did push up the temp. It was only after a total engine replacement was the problem found. Just a thought. Also is the intercooler working as it should? if it has a hole in it and the engine is not getting the amount of air it needs and will make the engine run hotter.
