No ignition????????
« on: 04 July 2007, 09:34:37 »

I have a facelift 2.5 Estate with an intermitant fault. I thought at first it was a hot start problem but now also happens when cold.

Get in, as you do, turn key dash lights only no turnover.

Remove key repeat process dash lights only no turnover etc etc. This can happen four or five times until it fires as if nothing has happened and it will be OK for a few days.

Any ideas?

So, what your saying is the starter motor is not operating and turning the engine over?

Or the engine is turning over but not firing?

A VERY rare occurance on an Omega....so check the low current wire to the starter motor, make sure its tight....you might also consider measuring the voltage to the low current starter conenction when turning the ignition key as well.

As a very quick test.....next time it happens.......give the starter motor a good hard knock with a broom handle or similar.

Do the dash lights dim/go out when you turn the key? If so, classic loose battery connection.
