i am trying to change the steering idler. the back nut came off easy, however the front one started to undo ok then the nut and stud started to turn, i cant undo or tighten back up either. does this mean i have to get a new centre tye rod ? i hope not.  :(

No this happens all the time. What you need to do is apply some pressure to the bottom of the tie rod by lifting it up and then you can continue to undo the nut. Once undone you can continue in removing the idler arm. Hope this helps.
