idler speed

Hi everyone can someone tell me what the idler speed should be on a 2.5 v6 auto new shape when the engine is at normal temparature, its ticking over at the moment at 500 revs should it be just under 1000? can anyone put me out of my missery! cheers  :-?

Picked this of another post :

2.0 8V ??? 670 - 930 none adjustable - only by TECH2
2.0 16v 700 - 1000 none adjustable - only by TECH2
2.2 700 - 930 none adjustable - only by TECH2
2.5 24V V6 570 - 750 none adjustable - only by TECH2
2.6 24V V6 580 - 800 none adjustable - only by TECH2
3.0 24V V6 570 - 750 none adjustable - only by TECH2
3.2 24V V6 580 - 800 none adjustable - only by TECH2

the higher numbers are for when the engine is cold, lower when warm.

Looking at those numbers, spot on for my 2.2  :y

At normal driving temperature should be 500 rpm without air con switched on, with air con on 650-700rpm well thats what mine ticks over at anyway :y

thanks for the info mine is correct seemed abit slow for v6, my vectra was just under 1000 thanks again

There are far more knowledgeable guys on here than me but sounds like your vectra could be ticking over a little high :-?

if its at 500 as u say i wouldnt worry at all as mine does it and quite few others do aswell but if that doesnt help do as stated above look for an airleak check the vac pipes etc etc but i personally wouldnt worry about it
