Fuel Filter - quick question
« on: 09 July 2007, 22:29:26 »

After much swearing I managed to remove my fuel filter.  Any directional marking on it has long since gone but I assume the raised lip at one end should be the same on the new one.

The question is..

when the old one came off, as well as the famous clips there was a small black plastic collar and little yellow o-ring on each side, pushed up tight towards the filter on the pipe.
Looks like part of the seal.  The replacement (GM) does not have these.

Do I ignore them or transfer them to the new filter?

Cheers
Ian

Thanks TB.

Can anyone advise on the black/yellow bit please?

I'm not sure if this is something not needed, should be moved over, or something that came off the pipe when it shouldn't have.

The O rings should be in the pipes......and its one hell of a lot easier to fit if you insert the clips into the pipe fittings first (after putting the O rings back)...

Thanks Mark

Presumably the black collar should also be replaced too prior to the clip going in?

I'll take a pic later as I don't believe this is mentioned in the guide.

Cheers,
Ian

As promised here is the pic - think it needed changing huh!

My question relates to the black and yellow bits on each end, NOT the green clips.

and the black bit next to it?

I think looking at the history it is 50k since the last one (previous owner), so I will be taking your advice next time.   Although an estate having worked out a technique it wasn't too bad to get off.
